Over the last week we have established V1 concept designs for the full integration of Photovoltaic Cells (PV) into our Hemp Fibre resin HEMPOSITE™ skin. This development is critical to realising our self-powering ambition.
In average UK weather conditions, you can expect one kilowatt of PV to generate on average 800 units (kilowatt-hours, kWh) of electricity per year. The HEMPOSITE™ system with it’s virtually flat roof will deliver 125kWh/sqm building footprint.
A HEMPOSITE™ home with a 200sqm footprint would generate 25,000kWh of electricity in a year which exceeds the combined UK gas and electricity average consumption (high) for domestic properties.
This is an exciting development because we are yet to factor in the reduced demand impact of our projected Passivhaus energy efficiency rating, ground source heat pump (GSHP) technology and solar shuttering in (commercial applications).
